Pencil Case Project - Kiwanis Club of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
📈The Kiwanis Club of Brisbane discovered a simple way to reduce barriers to learning and participation in school. Every January for the past four years, club members have purchased pencils, coloured pencils, erasers, rulers and highlighters. They then pack these supplies into durable, zip-up cases for teachers to distribute to kids who arrive without them for their first day at area schools. The project can set the tone for the year, enabling kids whose families might not be able to provide school supplies to feel included and prepared from the start.
🎄🎄It's Christmas and what is one of the things you do at Christmas time? Yes, you look at all the beautiful Christmas lights and decorations. Last night our Kiwanis bus, based in Adelaide and run by the Bus Service Operators Club, took a group of people from Calvary Residential Care, Oaklands Park, out on a trip around some parts of Adelaide to do just that. They had a lovely time. Peter Zander drove the bus, Yvonne Zander assisted. They stopped for icecreams along the way, went into the city to see the big Christmas tree in the square, went past the Brewery display (have to be from Adelaide to know that one) and saw some displays at private homes. Yvonne took a few photos when she was able, from the bus as they couldn't stop each time. Thanks for the photos Yvonne. Merry Christmas to all.
